Help:
I have divided the North American birds into groups. Click on the icon in front of the group name to go to the group page. Once you are at the group page you will notice a symbol key near the top of the page. It identifies the icons you will click on to navigate the page. The explanation of the icons is as follows:
Photos of a bird species loaned to AKA Bird Nerd by Guest Photographers. The
photos vary in number from 0 to ??. Click on the photo to move to the next photo.
When you can go no farther, you have reached the last photo available at that
time. Photos will be added periodically. Close the window when you are finished
viewing the photos. If you click on an AKA icon and get nothing, there are no
photos available yet. Note: you can tell a link is active if your cursor changes
to a hand as you hover your mouse icon over a link.
This link will take you to the Cornell website to learn more
about a bird species. When finished, close the separate window that has been
opened for you.
This link will take
you to the Seattle Audubon Society's website. It is especially good for birders
living in or visiting Washington State. When finished, close the separate window
that has been opened for you.
This link will take you to some other website that has information about the
bird species. Though I may use this for a third resource, it is especially useful
if Cornell and Seattle Audubon Socieity have no information about the bird species.
If you do not find an active link, there is no photo or information link for
that species yet. Please feel free to email me to report a useful resource link
about a bird species. When finished, close the separate window that has been
opened for you.
This link will do the same thing the AKA Bird Nerd Icon does - take you to some
photos of a bird species. All of these photos were taken by me and are the better
photos from my Photo Gallery. When finished, close the separate window that
has been opened for you.
Please email me if you have any suggestions that may help me improve the Online Field Guide. Feel free to email me just to let me know if you find this resource helpful. I will also accept photos to include in the Guest Photographer section of the Field Guide. I resize photos to no wider than 640/650 pixels and no higher than 600 pixels. My photos are 640x480 or 400x600 (vertical). I try to keep photo size below 100K. I reserve the right to evaluate a photo's quality or content. If I feel the photo does not meet the standard I have set for this website, I will email you and explain why it was not used. Hope all this helps!
